WHAT ARE THE 4 MOST COMMON MINERALS? Quartz, feldspar, mica and calcite.
WHAT IS BETTER TO IDENTIFY A MINERAL, COLOR OR STREAK/ WHY a. Streak, because many different minerals can be the same color
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CLEAVAGE AND FRACTURE? a. Cleavage is the tendency to split easily along flat surfaces but fracture is splitting unevenly.
HOW CAN WE FIGURE OUT HOW WHAT A MINERAL IS USING MOH'S HARDNESS SCALE? a. By using things like a nail, pane of glass, penny, and a finger nail to scratch the unknown object and comparing the results to what we know of the hardness scale. Ex. If it scratches a penny the object is harder than the penny.
