What does ADH do? promotes the retention of water in the kidneys
What does Oxytocin do? stimulates the contraction of uterus and mammary glands
What does FSH do? stimulates the production of ova and sperm
What does LH do? stimulates ovaries and testes
What does TSH do? stimulates thyroid gland
What does ACTH do? stimulates adrenal cortex to secrete glucocorticoids
What does Prl do? stimulates milk production and secretion
What do the thyroid hormones do? maintain bp, br, hr, muscle tone, digestion,a dn reproductive function
What is type 1 diabetes? body doesn't produce enough insulin b/c immune system attacks beta cells
What is type 2 diabetes? body makes insulin but body does not react to it
What does the adrenal gland do? regulates stress
What does melatonin do? regulates biorhythms (sleep/wake cycles)
What does Thymosin do? stimulates T lymphocytes
