Cutaneous Membrane Skin
Dermis inner layer, thicker than epidermis
Hair Follicle groups of epidermis cells at the base of a tube like depression
Integumentary cutaneous membrane together w/ certain accessory organs
Keratinization older cells harden
Melanin dark pigment that provides skin color
Mucous Membrane cavities and tubes that open to the outside of the body
Sebaceous Gland groups of specialized epithelial cells (associated w/ hair follicles)
Serous Membrane thin membrane covering internal body cavities
Subcutaneous Layer loose connective and adipose tissue that bind skin to the underlying organs
Sweat Glands exocrine gland that are wide spread in the skin (produce sweat)
Synovial Membrane form inner linings of joint cavities between ends of bone at freely movable joints
Epidermis composed of stratified squamous (skin)
