Assessing the eye and ear

Accommodation The ability of the eye to adjust to variations in distance
Cerumen Earwax
Convergence Moving the eyes inward toward the nose to see an object close to the face
Corneal Reflex Closure of the eye (blinking) due to corneal irritation
Hyperopia (farsightedness) A condition in which the eyeball is short, causing the image to focus behind the retina
Myopia (nearsightedness) A condition in which the eyeball is elongated, causing the image to focus in front of the retina instead of on it
Presbyopia Impaired near vision resulting from a loss of elasticity of the lens in the eye
Pupillary light reflex Reflex in which the pupil contracts in response to a bright light
Refraction The bending of light rays as they pass from one medium to another of different optical density
