Insulator A substance that resists electrical current or the flow of heat
Malleable Can be hammered into sheets and other shapes without breaking (property of metals)
Conductor A substance that allows the flow of electric charge or transfers thermal energy
ductile can be drawn into wires (metals)
Physical property of metals Luster, malleable, ductile, conductive,and high denseties
Physical property of Nonmetals dull and brittle
Luster How a surface of a material shines or reflects light
Conductivity The ability to transfer heat, sound, or electricity easily
brittle Breaks easily when force is applied.
metals A solid material that is typically hard, shiny, malleable, ductile, and conducts heat and electricity well.
metalloids have properties of both metals and non-metals. For example, it may conduct electricity well but is brittle (and therefore, not malleable).
Non-Metals are not able to conduct electricity or heat very well, very brittle (breakable), and cannot be made into wires or pounded into sheets
Hardness measure of how resistant a solid is to shape change when a force is applied.
