What is the cell type for Protists? Eukaryote. Can be unicellular or multicellular.
What does Protist's cell type mean? That they have a nucleus and organelles.
What are the nutrition for Protists? Autotrophic, Heterotrophic and sometimes both.
What are the habitats for Protists? Moist or Aquatic and very rarely dry.
How do Protists reproduce? Sexually or Asexually (Conjugation or Binary Fission).
What are the Protists' cell structures? Cilia, Flagella, Chloroplasts, Contractile Vacuoles, Food Vacuoles, Oral Grooves, Pseudopods, and Macro & Micro Nuclei.
What are the Cilia? Short hair-like projections used for movement.
What is the Flagella? A whip-like tail used for movement.
What are pseudopods? Fake Feet.
What are Macro and Micro Nuclei? Big and Small Brains.
What do the Contractile Vacuoles do? Regulate water level; Pushes out water.
What are the Food Vacuoles for? To store food.
What are the Oval Grooves? The "mouth"; the opening that takes in food.
What are the Chloroplasts for? For Photosynthesis to make food.
How are Protista classified? By their method of nutrition: Animal-like;Plant-like; or Fungi-like.
What kind of nutrition do Animal-like protista have? Heterotrophic.
What kind of nutrition do Plant-like protista have? Autotrophic.
What kind of nutrition do Fungi-like protista have? Heterotrophic, Decomposers, & Absorption.
What is the Cell Type, and Nutrition of Animal-like Protists? Unicellular and Heterotrophic.
How are Animal-like protists classified? By their type of movement, "locomotion".
What is another name for Ciliophorans? Ciliates.
What is another name for Zooflagellates? Flagellates.
How do Ciliophorans move? Cilia.
How do Sarcodinia move? Pseudopods.
How do Sporozoans move? They dont' move. They are parasitic.
How do Zooflagellates move? Flagella.
What are the 4 types of Animal-like Protists? Ciliophorans, Sarcodinia, Sporozoans, Zooflagellates.
What ar examples of Ciliophorans? Paramecia and Stentor.
What ar examples of Sarcodinias? Amoeba and Foraminiferans.
What ar examples of Sporozoans? Plasmodium and Toxoplasma.
What ar examples of Zooflagellates? Trichonympha and Trypanosome.
What is the Cell Type and Nutrition of Plant-like Protists? Unicellular but some are Multicellular and Autotrophic.
What are the sized of Plant-like Protists? From microscopic to seaweeds hundreds of feet long.
What are the habitats of Plant-like Protists? Freshwater, Marine (saltwater), and moist soil habitats.
What is the most famous Plant-like Protist? Euglena.
What are characteristics of Euglena? Photoheterotrophic, has Flagella, found in Digestive Tracts of some animals, some have eye spot to help locate the sun.
What is the Cell Type and Nutrition for Fungi-like Protists? Multicellular and Heterotrophic.
How do Fungi-like Protists reproduce? Spores.
What are the habitats for Fungi-like Protists? Moist watery habitats like decaying wood or leaves.
What is an environmental importance of Fungi-like Protists? They act as decomposers.
What are the types of Fungi-like Protists? Saprobes (decomposers) or Parasitic.
