moon phases

moon phases the changes in appearance of the moon as it orbits earth every 29-1/2 days
new moon the moon phase when the side facing earth is complletly dark, because the moon is between earth and the sun.
waxing describes the moon as its visible lightened area grows larger during the lunar circle.
first quarter the moon phase halfway between new moon and full moon
full moon the moon phase when the side facing earth is completely lighted
waning describes the moon as its visible lighted area grows smaller during the lunar cycle
thrid quarter the moon phase halfway between full moon and new moon
solar eclipse the passing of the moon dsirectly between earth and the sun.
lunar eclipse the passing of earth between the sun and moon.
