| Inferring | explaining your observations from what you already know |
| Predicting | make a statement about the future based on experience |
| Chemistry | properties of matter and how it changes |
| Physics | the study of how matter, energy, motion, and forces work |
| Science Inquiry | the process used in scientific thinking and problem solving |
| Hypothesis | a possible answer to a question that can be tested |
| Parameter | factors that can be measured |
| Manipulated Variable | the factor that you change x axis also called the Independent Variable |
| Responding Variable | the variable that changes because of another variable's change y axis also called the dependent variable |
| Controlled Experiment | test an hypothesis |
| Data | facts, figures, and other information gathered from an experiment |

| Linear Graph | graph where data points form a straight line |
| Non-linear Graph | data does not fall along a straight line; cannot draw line of best fit |
| Slope | The steepness of the graph line |
| Origin | Where the x and y axis meet (0,0) |
