What is matter Anything that has mass and takes up space
Define Density Mass per unit volume; the amount of matter within a certain volume
What tools do we use to measure for density Mass- triple beam balance : measured in grams Volume- liquid (ml) or an irregular shaped object (cm3). We use a graduated cylinder -Volume = solid square, use a ruler -Length* width*height= cm3
Matter and Density matter is anything that has mass and takes up space. Density is the amount of matter within a certain volume. We use a triple beam balance to find mass, a graduated cylinder to find volume of a liquid and a ruler to find the volume of a square object.
How do we figure out the density of an object 1. Find the mass of the object 2. Find the volume of the object 3. Divide Density = mass/volume
What is the formula used for finding density Density = mass(g)/volume (cm3) --units for density g/cm3 --grams per cube centimeter
List the steps for solving density 1) D = m/v 2) D =35g/7cm3 = 35/7 3D = 5g/cm3
Solve Density problem To solve a density problem, first you have to find the mass of an object (grams) then the volume (cm3) and divide. the units for density are grams per cubic centimeter
Why do liquids with different densities form layers The liquids with the highest density will be on the bottom ex. honey, syrup -The liquids withe the largest density will be on teh top ex/ Vegetable oil
