TermDefinition
electromagnetic spectrun All types of electromagnetic radiation, arranged according to wavelength and frequency, form the electromagnetic spectrum.
refracting telescope Telescope invented in 1608. Uses lenses to bring visible light to a focus.
reflecting telescope Telescope invented in 1668. Uses mirrors to focus light.
interferometry Technique that uses the images from several telescopes to produce a single image.
albedo The percentage of incoming sunlight that a surface reflects.
highland Heavily cratered regions that are light in color and mountainous.
mare Regions which are dark with relatively smooth plains.
impact crater Craters on the moon. Formed when objects from space crash into the lunar surface.
ejecta Material that was blasted out and fell back to the Moon's surface is called ejecta.
