Solar system Our solar system consists of an average star we call the Sun, the planets Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto.
Galaxy a system of millions or billions of stars
Planet Massive planets significantly more massive than the terrestrials: Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune.
Light year a long distance or great amount.
Star Remote incandescent body like the sun.
Universe all existing matter and space considered as a whole
Luminosity the intrinsic brightness
Apparent magnitude the magnitude of a celestial object
Absolute magnitude the magnitude of a celestial object as it would be seen at a standard distance
