Practices Used by Scientists

Data | Facts and statistics collected together for reference or analysis. |
Scientific Model | A systematic description of an object or phenomenon that shares important characteristics with the object or phenomenon. |
Scientific Inquiry | The diverse ways in which scientists study the natural world and propose explanations based on the evidence derived from their work. |
Analysis | Detailed examination of the elements or structure of something, typically as a basis for discussion or interpretation. |
Computational Thinking | The thought processes involved in formulating a problem and expressing its solution(s) in such a way that a computer—human or machine—can effectively carry out. |
Phenomenon | A fact or situation that is observed to exist or happen, especially one whose cause or explanation is in question. |
Argument | A reason or set of reasons given with the aim of persuading others that an action or idea is right or wrong. |
Evidence | The available body of facts or information indicating whether a belief or proposition is true or valid. |
