Solar System

Vocabulary Review

TermDefinition
Star An object in space that produces its own heat and light.
Moon A natural satellite that orbits a planet.
Solar System A sun and all the objects that move around it.
Orbit The path that one object in space takes around another object in space.
Gravity The force that pulls objects toward each other
Asteroid Belt The group of rocks that separates the inner from the outer planets.
Planet A large solar system object that orbits the sun.
Rotation The spinning of an object on its axis.
Revolution One complete trip around the sun.
Earth The only known location for life in the solar system.
