hypothesis a possible explanation or answer to a question
controlled experiment an experiment that tests only one variable at a time
variable a factor in a control experiment that changes
theory a unifying explanation for a broad range of hypotheses and observations that have been supported by experimentation
technology the application of knowledge, tools, and materials to solve problems and accomplish tasks, technology can also refer to the objects used to accomplish tasks
compound light microscope a microscope that consists of a tube with lenses, a stage, and a light source
electron microscope a microscope that uses tiny particles of matter to produce magnified images
area the measure of how much surface an object has
volume the amount of space that something occupies or the amount of space that something contains
mass the amount of matter that something is made of
temperature a measure of how hot or cold something is
