| Prime Meridian | An imaginary line that divides the Earth into the Eastern & Western Hemispheres |
| Ocean | A very large body of water |
| Symbol | Small drawings on a map that stand for something |
| Map Key | Tell what each symbol used on a map means |
| Cardinal Directions | North, South, East, West |
| Intermediate Directions | NE, NW, SE, SW |
| Hemisphere | Half of the Earth |
| Map Title | Tells you what part of the world is shown on the map |
| Continents | A very large body of land |
| Equator | An imaginary line that divides the Earth into the Northern and Southern Hemispheres |
| Island | A body of land that is surrounded by water on all sides |
| Volcano | A vent or crack in the Earth's surface through which molten which molten rock escapes |
| Peninsula | A body of land that is surrounded by water on three of its sides |
| Valley | A long hollow between hills or mountains |
| Lake | A large body of water completely surrounded by land |
| Mesa | A rise of land having a flat top and steep walls |
| Mountain | A large elevation of the Earth's surface |
| River | A stream of water of a large size |
| Bay | A body of water that extends into the land |
| Gulf | Part of an ocean or sea partly enclosed by land |
