Metric prefixes and their associated scale.

basestates the whole is 1 unit
kilo states the whole contains 1000 units
hecto states the whole contains 100 units
deka states the whole contains 10 units
base states the whole contains 1 unit
deci states the whole contains 0.1 or 1/10th unit
centi states the whole contains 0.01 or 1/100th unit
milli states the whole contains 0.001 or 1/1000th unit
