| monarch | the top position in the feudal government |
| lord | the second position in the feudal government a wealthy land owner |
| lady | the second position in the feudal government a wealthy land owner |
| noble | the wealthiest class in feudal society Nobles are family members of the lords. |
| pope | The head of the Catholic Church |
| knight | a trained, armored horseman who fought wars in the Middle Ages, always noble by birth |
| armor | the protective clothing, weapons, and shield worn by a knight |
| chivalry | the behavior expected from a knight; fairness, courtesy, respect for women, and protection of the weak |
| vassal | a person who served the king in exchange for land |
| serf | a poor person who lives on and farms the land they are not free, but belong to the land |
| archer | a person who uses a bow and arrow |
| troubadour | a traveling poet or singer |
| craftsman | a master of a craft, or profession |
| peasant | a poor but free person who lives on and farms the land in exchange for protection |
