Parts of Brain and What They Do

| Frontal Lobe | Reasoning, planning, speech, movement, smell, peresonality |
| When is the frontal lobe fully developed? | Not until between ages 18-21 |
| Temporal Lobe | Deciphers sound, controls memory, language meaning, helps with senses |
| Brain Stem | control involuntary actions, such as breathing, blinking, heart beat |
| Cerebellum | Coordination and balance |
| Occipital Lobe | Visual images |
| Parietal Lobe | Senses (besides sight and smell), such as touch, pressure pain Calculating, reading/writing, attention |
| Motor Cortex | Controls specific muscles/groups |
| Thalmus | Receives messages from organs and relays info to parts of brain |
| Hypothalmus | Control center to recognize hunger, thirst, fatigue, anger, body temperature; primitive brain |
