| Profile | Side view of a topographic feature |
| Latitude | Lines that run East and West but measure North and South |
| Contour Interval | Interval of change from one topography line to another |
| Atmosphere | Layer of gases that surround a planet or moon |
| Hydrosphere | Layer of water on Earth |
| Prime meridian | major north-south line on Earth |
| Isoline | Line of equal value |
| Horizon | where the sky meets the land or water |
| Altitude | distance from the ground to a specific point in the sky |
| topographic map | map showing the " lay of the land" aka surface feature map |
| longitude | lines that run north and south but measure east and west |
| equator | major east -west line on earth |
| lithosphere | layer of earth that contains the crust and rigid mantle |
