Aquatic Ecosystems

QuestionAnswer
What is a watershed? All the land from which water drains into a specific body of water.
What is a flowing body of water? A river and/or stream.
What is a standing body of water? A lake and/or pond.
Which of these animals have uses more energy? Largemouth Bass (12 ibs for example)
Which animal uses LESS energy? Algae (.01 ibs for example)
What is a riffle? A shallow, fast flowing area in a river or stream
What is a channel? The area where the water collects and flows down stream in a flowing body of water
What is a pool? Slow moving areas of deeper parts of a flowing body of water
What bodys of water are found in the state of MISS-OUR-I? Ponds, rivers, lakes, streams, and wetlands.
What is an energy pyramid? A pyramid that shows the amount of energy avaible on each trophic level.
What is a food chain? How energy moves form producers to primary consumers to secondary consumers and so on.
What is a first-order stream? A small stream wit notributaries coming into it. A bigger first-order stream forms a second order stream.
