| Hydrosphere | All the waters on earths surface |
| River Basin | The portion of land drained by a river and its tributaries |
| Tributary | A river or stream flowing into a larger river or lake |
| Watershed | An area of land that drains into a stream, river, lake, or any other body of water |
| Surface Water | Water that collects on the surface of the ground |
| Groundwater | The water that collects underground |
| Aquifer | A body of permeable rock that can contain or transmit groundwater |
| Water Cycle | The movement of water between Earth and the sky |
| Evaporation | The process of water turning into a gas |
| Transpiration | When plants release water and it evaporates |
| Condensation | The process of water turning from a gas to a liquid |
| Precipitation | When water falls from clouds in the forms of rain, snow, sleet, and hail |
| Infiltration | When rain water on the surface of Earth enters the small pore spaces between particles of soil or rock |
| Runoff | The flow of excess water on earths surface |
| Porosity | The quality of having many tiny holes |
| Cohesion | The sticking together of particles of the same substance |
| Adhesion | The action or process of sticking to a surface or object |
| Density | The degree of compactness of a substance |
| Universal Solvent | A solvent that dissolves many substances |
