Human Impact

Human Impact includes impacts on biophysical environments, biodiversity, and other resources.
Environmental Pollution the introduction into the biosphere of materials that because of their quantity, chemical nature, or temperature have a negative impact on the ecosystem or that cannot be readily disposed of by natural recycling processes
Hazardous Waste Any material that can be harmful to human health or the environment if it is not properly disposed of
Recycling Collecting and reprocessing a resource or product to make into new products
human population growth measures how populations change in size over time.
Nonrenewable Resources a resource of economic value that cannot be readily replaced by natural means on a level equal to its consumption.
Renewable Resources is a substance of economic value that can be replaced or replenished in the same amount or less time as it takes to draw the supply down.
thermal pollution the introduction of heated water into the environment, with consequent adverse effects on aquatic life
acid rain rain containing acids produced by water chemically combined with certain gases
conservation wise use of natural resources
desalination process of getting fresh water from salt water
natural resource material from earth that is used by living things
nuclear energy energy produced by splitting or combining atoms
pollutant harmful substance in the environment
sewage wastes usually flushed away in water
