| biome | a large scale ecosystem |
| tropical rain forest | a hot, humid biome near the equator , with much rainfall and a wide variety of life. |
| decidous forest | a forest biome with many kinds of trees that lose their leaves each autumn. |
| grassland | a moderate temperature biome with light rainfall and various grasses present |
| deserts | a sandy or rocky biome, with little precipitation and little plant life |
| taiga | a cool, forest biome of conifers in the upper nprthern hemisphere |
| tundra | a cold treeless biome of the far north, marked by spongy topsoil. |
| saltwater ecosystem | have tides, an upper region with many fish whales, and a dark bottom |
| freshwater ecosystem | most lakes, streams, rivers and ponds |
| estuary | a mixture of fresh and salt water |
