geocentric earth-centered model of the solar system where earth is at the center of the revolving planets and stars (old theory)
heliocentric Theory where Earth and the other planets revolve around the sun.
ellipse an oval shape which may be elongated or nearly circular
moon a natural satellite that revolves around a palnet
terrestrial planets the four inner planets that are small, dense, and have rocky surfaces - Mercury, Venus, Earth & Mars
greenhouse effect the trapping of heat by the atmosphere
gas giants the four outer planets that are large, more massive and without solid surfaces - Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, & Neptune
ring rings refer to the thin disk of small particles of ice and rock that surround the outer planets
