How do bases and acids differ in water solutions? Acid forms a hydrogen ion and a base forms a hydroxide ion
What ion do bases form in water? Hydroxide or OH-
What ion do acids form in water? Hydrogen or H+
The concentration of hydrogen ions is measured on what? The pH scale
What will a strong acid have that a weak acid won't? A low pH
What is the reaction called between an acid and a base? Neutralization
What is the process of breaking down large food molecules into smaller ones called? Chemical digestion
What are the products of neutralization reaction? Water and salt
What does a hydroxide ion look like? OH-
What is the universal solvent? Water
What is the charge and mass of a proton? + charge and mass of 1

What numbers do acids range from? 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6
What numbers to bases range from? 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14
What number is neutral? 7

What number is the strongest acid? 0
What number is the strongest base? 14
If a substance has a pH of 13 what would it be classified as? Strong Base
If a substance has a pH of 6 what would it be classified as? Weak acid
If a substance has a pH of 7 what would it be classified as? Neutral
