| Term | Definition |

| Evolution | The process in which inherited characteristics within a population change over generations such that new species sometimes arise |
| Variation | The occurrence of hereditary or non hereditary differences between different individuals of a population |
| Adaption | An inherited trait that improves an individual's ability to survive and reproduce in a particular environment |
| Artificial selection | The human practice of breeding animals or plants that have certain desired traits. |
| Natural selection | The process by which individuals that are better adapted to their environment survive and reproduce more successfully than less well adapted individuals do. |
| Charles Darwin | Was a british naturalist who helped develop the theory of evolution by natural selection |
| Survival of the Fittest | If mutations are favorable, the organism will have a better chance to live long enough to Reproduce and pass on that mutation to its offspring. |
