What are kingdoms? Scientists divide all living things into groups; large groups sharing similar characteristics. (Cell structure, reproduction, energy, etc.)
Name the kingdoms. Animal Plant Fungi Protist Archaea Bacteria
What would you find in the fungi kingdom? (Decomposers) Mushroom Yeast Mold
Which kingdoms are made of mostly microscopic organisms and are mostly single-celled? Protist Archaea Bacteria
Describe bacteria. Simplest thing alive; one cell; no nucleus; producers; consumers; decomposers
How can bacteria be helpful? Breaks down dead things; break down waste; clean up oil spills; convert nitrogen
How can bacteria be harmful? Cause diseases in plants, animals, and humans
Describe protists. Cells with nucleus; most diverse; producers; plant like (plankton); animal like (protozoa); fungus like; consumers; decomposers
Which kingdoms do not have protists? Bacteria Archaea
How do you know that a protist is a protist? Single-celled with nucleus Can eat by moving with cilia
