| ground water | water beneath the Earth's surface |
| hydrologist | scientist who studies the movement, distribution, and quality of water on Earth and other planets |
| weathering | the breaking down or dissolving of rocks and minerals on Earth's surface |
| agents of weathering | water, ice, acids, salt, plants, animals, and changes in temperature |
| agents of erosion | moving water, wind, gravity, and ice |
| deposition | sediments, soil and rocks are added to a landform or land mass |
| sediments | material (soil and rock) that is broken down and deposited |
| stream | a steady flow of water created by rain or snow |
| rivulets | tiny channels of water where a stream originates |
