Instinct & Learned Behavior

How does migration help an animal to meet its needs? Animals go to other areas where they can find the things they need for survival.
Examples of animals that migrate Monarch butterfly; Atlantic green sea turtles; gray whales; salmon; pectoral sandpiper
How does hibernation help an animal to meet its needs? Animals need very little food during the winter months when little food is available. Animals are able to survive with little heat when it is very cold.
Examples of animals that hibernate ground squirrels; bears; bats
