Science 13.1 Vocab

7th grade science

TermDefinition
Behavior Consist of all the actions an animal takes to obtain food, avoid predators, and find a mate.
Stimulus Is a signal that causes an organism to react in some way.
Response The reaction of the stimulus.
Instinct Is a response to a stimulus that is inborn and that an animal performs correctly the first time.
Learning Is the process that leads to changes in behavior based on practice or experience.
Imprinting Recognizing the first moving thing as there mother.
Conditioning Learning that a particular stimulus or response leads to a good or a bad outcome.
Trial-and-error learning When an animal learns to perform a behavior more and more skillfully.
Insight Learning Using what you already know to figure out something else.
