Matter Everything that has mass and takes up space.
Element A substance made of only one kind of atom.
Metal Good conductors of heat/electricity. Can bend without breaking. Most are a grey color.
Nonmetals Don't conduct heat/electricity very well. Can be a solid or gas.
Semimetals Sometimes like metals sometimes like nonmetals.
Atom The basic building blocks of matter. Can't be any smaller.
Atomic Theory States that everything is made of matter.
Compound A type of matter made of 2 or more elements.
Molecule The smallest particle of a compound that still acts like that compound.
Proton Positive charge. Found in the nucleus.
Neutron No charge. Found in the nucleus.
Electron Negative charge. Orbits the nucleus.
