| global winds | winds that blow steadily from specific directions over long distances |
| tornado | rapidly whirling cloud that reaches down from a storm cloud to touch Earth's surface |
| density | amount of mass in a given space; mass per unit volume |
| sea breeze | flow of air from an ocean or lake to the land |
| Greenhouse Effect | process by which heat is trapped in the atmosphere |
| atmosphere | mixture of gases that surrounds Earth |
| thunderstorms | heavy rainstorms with thunder and lightening |
| convection | heat transfer through a fluid |
| wind | the horizontal movement of air from high pressure to low pressure |
| land breeze | the flow of air from land to a body of water |
| altutude | elevation above sea level |
| air mass | huge body of air that has similar temperature, pressure, and humidity throughout |
| air pressure | force that is the result of the weight of a column of air pushing down on an area |
