QuestionAnswer
Metamorphic Rock type made by pressure and heat on existing rocks.
Sedimentary Rock type made by cementation and compaction of rock or organic fragments.
Igneous Rock type made by cooled magma or lava.
Intrusive Igneous rocks cooled beneath the surface.
Extrusive Igneous rocks cooled above the surface; volcanic.
Granite Igneous, intrusive rock. Used for headstones, countertops, stairs.
Pumice Igneous, extrusive rock. Used for exfoliation.
Scoria Igneous, extrusive rock. Used in gas grills.
Obsidian Volcanic glass. Used for Native American arrowheads.
Slate Metamorphic rock. Parent rock = shale. Used for walkways, flooring, and old roofs (heavy!).
