QuestionAnswer
Solar System: Heliocentric Theory theory first proposed by Copernicus, stating that Earth and other planets revolve around the sun. (Prefix helio=sun). Later theory geocentric (Prefix geo=earth) means earth the center.
Solar System: Gravity explained by Newton, force of attraction between any two objects; governs movements and characterization of the planets, asteroids, and comets
Force of Gravity (Universal) proportional to the product of the masses of the object divided by the square of the distance between them.
nebula scientists believe stars were formed out of clouds of gases and dust in space
Star's energy produced by nuclear fusion, converting hydrogen into helium. Theory says stars form all elements through further fusion
“Big Bang” Theory scientists believe that the universe began in an explosion between 13 and 15 billion years ago. They base their theory on the movement of stars away from one another (red shift) and from background cosmic radiation.
