Theory of Evolution

| Evolution | The process by which something changes over time |
| DNA | Material that contains the information that determines inherited characteristics |
| Genetics | Study of genes, heredity and genetic variation in living organisms |
| Species | The largest group of organisms where two individuals are capable of reproducing fertile offspring |
| Common Ancestor | The most recent ancestral form or species from which two different species evolved |
| Adaptation | Behavioral or physical characteristic that allows living things to survive in their environment |
| Taxonomy | Branch of science concerned with the classification especially of organisms |
| Biochemical | Chemical processes with and related to living organisms |
| Variation | Heritable differences that exist in every population that are the basis for natural selection |
| Mimicry | When one species evolved to look like another |
| Phenotype | Outward appearance of an organism, regardless of its genes |
| Fitness | The ability to survive in a given environment because of having the right traits |
| Morphological | Describing the structure and form of organisms and their specific structural features |
| Embryological | The formation, early growth and development of living organisms |
| Homologous structures | Similarities in the structures of mammals |
| Analogous structures | Similarities in the function, but are not evidence of a common ancestor |
