TermDefinition
Ligament Tough band of tissue that connects bones to other bones
Simple Fracture A bone that has broken into 2 pieces and has NOT broken through the skin
Compound Fracture When the broken bone breaks through the skin
Sprain When ligaments are overstretched or torn
Joint Dislocation When a bone is out of place, commonly occur at the shoulder or hip
Voluntary Muscles Muscles that you can move by choice; you can control
Smooth Muscle The kind of muscle that makes up the many organs in the body
Cardiac Muscle The kind of muscle that makes up the walls of the human heart
Skeletal Muscle The kind of muscles that connect to bones and helps move the bones in the body
