mineral A mineral is a naturally occurring substance, representable by a chemical formula, that is usually solid and inorganic, and has a crystal structure.
crystal structure A crystal structure is a unique arrangement of atoms in a crystal.
Moh's Hardness Scale The Moh's Scale of mineral hardness is a qualitative ordinal scale that characterizes the scratch resistance of various minerals through the ability of a harder material to scratch a softer material.
Luster Luster is the way light interacts with the surface of a crystal, rock, or mineral.
Hardness hardness is The Ability to resist being scratched.
Cleavage Tendency to break on a flat surface. cleavage
Fracture Tendency to break on a non flat surface. fracture
Streak streak is The color of a mineral when powdered and observed against an unglazed white porcelain plate.
Crystalization Crystallization is also a chemical solid–liquid separation technique, in which mass transfer of a solute from the liquid solution to a pure solid crystalline phase occurs.
Solution A solution is a type of homogeneous mixture that is made up of two or more substances.
Vein a vein a fracture in rock containing a deposit of minerals or ore and typically having an extensive course underground.
Geode A geode is a round rock which contains a hollow cavity lined with crystal seach
Element an element each of more than one hundred substances that cannot be chemically interconverted or broken down into simpler substances and are primary constituents of matter.
Compound a compound is a thing that is composed of two or more separate elements; a mixture.
Inorganic inorganic is not consisting of or deriving from living matter.
Fluorescence florescence is visible or invisible radiation emitted by certain substances as a result of incident radiation of a shorter wavelength such as X-rays or ultraviolet light.
Texture the feel, appearance, or consistency of a surface or a substance.
Fine Grained having a fine or delicate arrangement of fibers.
Coarse Grained having a noticeably grainy appearance.
Porphyry Porphyry is a textural term for an igneous rock consisting of large-grained crystals such as feldspar or quartz dispersed in a fine-grained feldspathic matrix or groundmass
