| magma chamber | is a large underground pool of liquid rock |
| crater | large big bowl shape on the ground or on the surface of the planet |
| vent | an opening that allows gas,air,or liquid to come through |
| pipe | is a "pipe" that lets lava through to get out of the volcano |
| lava flow | when lava comes of the volcano it makes a lava flow |
| element | a substance that cannot be broken down into other subtances |
| viscosity | is the resistance of a liquid to flowing |
| silica | is a compound made up of particles of the elements oxygen and silicon |
| pohoehoe | is fast moving hot lava that has low viscosity |
| aa | is lava that is cooler and slower moving |
| compound | is a substance made of two or more elements that have been chemically combined |
| subduction | elements put together to make a compound |
| extinct | when a volcano may never explode agian |
| dormant | a sleeping volcano |
| active | a volcano that is soon to explode again |
| cinder cone volcano | a volcano shaped like a cone |
| shield volcano | is a volcano that is made up of layers of layers of fluid lava |
| composite volcano | is a volcano that is made up of layers of solid lava flow mixed with other rock |
| caldera | when a volcano collapse and makes a calder |
| batholith | a large body of rock witch is believed to crystalize |
| lava plateau | is formed by highly fluid lava built up in layers |
| sill | a mount or mountain witch is created with rock and other layers |
| dike | a mass of rock similar to sandstone |
| hotspring | is a pool under ground with hot water that will eventually come out or explode |
| geyser | a hotspring that explodes is called a geyser |
