Heredity

QuestionAnswer
Allele The different forms of a gene
Gamete A mature haploid male or female germ cell.
Genotype An organism's genetic makeup, or allele combinations.
Phenotype An organism's physical appearance, or visible traits
Heterozygous Having two different alleles for a trait.
Homozygous Having two identical alleles for a trait.
Pedigree A chart or "family tree" that tracks that tracks which members of a family have a particular trait.
Trait A characteristic that an organism can pass on to its offspring through its genes.
Heredity The passing of traits of the parents to offspring
