| plankton | a diverse group un-able to swim against the current so they float along in it in ether fresh or salt water. |
| photosynthsis | making food from the light |
| estuaries | a place where the river meets the ocean, shallow, and holds many animals and plant life. |
| ecosystem | a community of living things in conjunction to the non-living components. |
| salinity | the saltiness or the amount of salt dissolved in water from a water to salt ratio |
| marine snow | organic particles that float downwards, serve as food |
| bioluminesents | organisms that make their own life |
| chemosysthsis | creating your own food through heat and chemical energy (EX: Tube worms) |
| Hydro-thermal vents | underwater volcanoes that support life |
| Vaucole | compartments in plants designed to hold water or to get rid of it. |
| Trench | deepest part of the ocean in the Hadal zone formed by plate tectonics |
| marine organisms | animals and plants that thrive within the water. Also micro-organisms |
| ridge | underwater mountain |
| deep ocean | below 1,000 meters |
