Energy

Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration

QuestionAnswer
What is the definition of photosynthesis? Process by which plants and some other organisms capture light energy and use it to make food from carbon dioxide and water.
What is the definition of cellular respiration? Process by which cells can break down simple food molecules to release the energy they contain.
What is the equation for photosynthesis? 6CO2 + 6H20 = C6H12O6 + 6O2
What is the equation for cellular respiration? C6H12O6 + 6O2 = 6CO2 + 6H20 + energy
What are the materials needed for photosynthesis? CO2 + H2O + (solar energy)
What are the products that come out of photosynthesis? glucose + O2
What are the materials needed for cellular respiration? O2 + glucose
What are the products that come out of cellular respiration? CO2 + H2O + Energy/ATP
Photosynthesis is the process by which light energy combines with what else to produce what? (4 answers) CO2 and H2O; C6H12O6 and O2
If photosynthesis did not exist, there would be no what? [replace what with a different word(s)]. C6H12O6 for any plants
If plants do not have glucose for food, what wouldn't they have for their cells? energy
If plants have no energy for their cells, what will eventually happen to the plants? die
If plants are dying out, animals such as cows, chickens, fish and humans do not have any what to eat? (replace what with a word) food
If cows, chickens, fish, humans and all other animals have no food to eat, they will have nothing to break down for what? (replace what with a word) energy
Cellular Respiration The process of breaking down food for energy.
If there is no what for animal cells, the whole organism will die. (replace what with a word) energy
If photosynthesis did not exist, there would be no what produced into the atmosphere for us and other animals to breathe in. (replace what with a word) O2
If we do not have oxygen to breathe, we and other have no way of starting cellular what. (replace what with a word) respiration
Without what, not much would survive! (replace what with a word) photosynthesis

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.
