What is astronomy? the study of the universe
What is a year? the amount of time it takes the Earth to orbit the sun once
What is a month? the amount of time it takes the moon to orbit the Earth once
What is a day? the amount of time it takes Earth to rotate once on its axis
Who was Ptolemy? an early astronomer who thought that the Earth was the center of the universe.
Who was Copernicus? an early astronomer who said the sun is the center of the universe
Who was Kepler? an early astronomer who said all the planets revolve around the sun in elliptical orbits
Who was Galileo? one of the first astronomers to use a telescope to observe objects in space
Who was Isaac Newton? early astronomer who showed that all objects in the universe attract each other through gravitational force
Who was Edwin Hubble? used his telescope to prove that other galaxies existed beyond the Milky Way
What is a telescope? a tool that scientists use to observe the sky
What are constellations? sections of the sky that contain recognizable star patterns
Why do the constellations that we can see change from season to season? because Earth revolves around the sun
How many constellations are there? 88
What is a light year? the distance that light travels in a year
What is the universe doing? expanding
