landform definitions

| canyon | A v-shaped valley eroded by a river or a stream. |
| flood | A very large flow of water, witch is greater than the normal flow of water and goes over the stream's normal channel. |
| flood plain | The area around a river that is covered by water flowing over the river bank during a flood. |
| flash flood | Rises and falls rapidly with little or no warning, usually as the result of a very heavy rainfall over a small area. can also be caused by a dam breaking or the flaw of an ice jam. |
| sediment | Eroded earth materials that have been deposited. |
| erosion | Wears away earth materials by water, wind, temperature or ice. |
| deposition | The process in witch eroded earth materials set out in another place |
| plateau | A large nearly level area that has been lifted above the surrounding areas. |
| meander | A curve or loop in a channel. |
| drainage basin | A system of rivers and streams that drains an area. |
| landform | A shape or feature in the earths surface like a delta or a canyon |
| delta | A fan shaped (triangular) deposit of earth's materials at a mouth of a stream. |
| basin | A low area in witch sediment is usually deposited. |
| channel | The course or path the water takes in a stream or river. |
| slope | The angle or slant of a stream, channel or a land surface. |
| alluvial fan | A fan shaped land form deposited at the end of a steep canyon where slope becomes flatter. |
