It's about the earth and vocab

TermDefinition
Rotation The act of spinning or turning on an axis.
Axis An imaginary line that runs from a planet's north pole to its south pole, on which a planet rotates.
Revolution The act of traveling in a curved path or orbit around another object.
Day Length of time it takes for a planet to rotate once on its axis.
Year Length of time it takes for a planet to make one complete revolution around the sun.
Time Zone One of the twenty four standard zones into which earth is divided, corresponding to the twenty four hours in a day.
Orbit Path an object takes when it revolves around another object.
Ellipse an elongated circle; an oval.
Horizon The point where the land appears to meet the sky.
Sunrise When any part of the Sun's disk becomes visible above the horizon.
Sunset When the Sun's disk completely disappears behind the horizon.
