Acute inflammatory demyelinating disease of peripheral nervous system and cranial nerves. Paralysis starts at feet and works way up. Guillain-Barre Syndrome
Autoimmune disorder, antibodies damage myelin sheath. Produces ascending weakness with dyskinesia, hyporeflexia, and paresthesias Guillain-Barre Syndrome
Usually follows viral infection, URI. Sometimes after flu shot. 60-75% recover completely. Guillain-Barre Syndrome
Muscle weakness and diminished reflexes of lower extremities symmetrically. Sym varhy greatly. Mayhave paresthesias, weakness or paralysis involving RR and swallowing muscles. Guillain-Barre Syndrome
Clinical manifestations of Guillain-Barre Syndrome typically occur within ___ to ____ weeks post URI, GI or viral infection 1 to 3
