7 Mitosis

7th grade biology Mitosis

QuestionAnswer
List all the events of the cell cycle. 1. Interphase 2. Prophase 3. Metaphase 4. Anaphase 5. Telophase 6. Cytokinesis
List the 3 phases in the Interphase. 1. G1-cell growth 2. S-DNA replication 3. G2-preparation for mitosis
What happens in the prophase? Chromatin condenses into chromosomes and the nuclear membrane breaks down
What is mitosis? The division of the nucleus in 4 phases
What happens in the metaphase? Chromosomes line up across the center of the cell and each chromosome is connected to a spindle fiber
What happens in the anaphase? Sister chromatids separate into individual chromosomes and are pulled apart
What happens in the telophase? Chromosomes gather at opposite ends of the cell and 2 new nuclear membranes form around them
What happens in cytokineses? The cytoplasm divides
In what cell does the "draw string effect" forms cleavage furrows (which pinches the cell into two parts) for cytokineses? Animal cells
In what cell does a cell plate forms from inside out, and a cell wall begins to appear for cytokineses? Plants cells
Each daughter cell has the same number of ___________ as the parent cell? Chromosomes
What can happen if the growth of cells is not controlled? Crowding and tissue damage can happen
6CO2+6H2O=energy= C6H12O6= 6O2 Photosynthesis
C6H12O6 means what? Glucose
6O2 means what? Oxygen
6CO2 means what? Carbon dioxide
6H2O means what? Water

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.

To see how well you know the information, try the Quiz or Test activity.
