TermDefinition
Evaporation The sun's energy produces water vapor from bodies of water in this process.
Condenstaion The process that forms clouds from water vapor and dust particles.
Precipitation Rain, snow, sleet, and hail.
Water Vapor Evaporated water.
Temperature How hot or cold something is.
Run-Off Water that was precipitated and is still on the ground.
Groundwater Water held underground in the soil or in pores and crevices in rock.
High Pressure Clear sunny weather.
Low Pressure Foggy stormy weather.
Current A large stream of moving water that flows through the ocean.
Gulf-Stream The largest and most powerful surface current in North America.
Coriolis Effect The effect of Earth's rotation the direction of winds and currents, is the reason for this circular pattern.
Salinity The amount of salt in water.
El Nino An abnormal climate event that occurs every 2-7 years in the Pacific Ocean.
Upwelling The movement of cold water upward from the deep ocean.
Rain The most common type of precipitation that usually fall from stratus clouds.
Snow When water vapor in a clouds is converted in to crystals and fall as a form of precipitation.
Sleet When raindrops fall through a layer of air that's below 0 degrees they're considered a different type of precipitation
Hail Round pellets of ice that are larger than 5 millimeters.
