Properties of Matter

What are atoms? Smallest Unit of matter
What is matter? Anything with mass and volume
Give some examples of matter. ladybug,water,textbook, smoke, humans
Give some examples of non matter. Energy, light, and sound
What is mass? How much matter is in something.
What is weight? The pull of gravity on an object.
Explain the difference of mass and weight of the Earth and the moon. Sara is incorrect because the weight of an object depends on the gravitational pull. Mass does not have to do with gravity. It stays the same.
What is an element? An element only contains one type of atom
What is a molecule? Two or more atoms chemically combined.
How can you separate compounds? By breaking bonds between atoms.
Do atoms and molecules move? All atoms move. They vibrate in a solid, they slide in a liquid, and move freely in a gas.
What does it mean if a substance is pure? It only has one type of component.
Write the formula for volume. Length x Width x Height
length= 23 cm, width, 36 cm, and height 8 cm 6624 cm
length= 48 cm, width=42 cm, and height= 18 cm 36288 cm
Write the formula for density Mass divided by Volume
A glass of orange juice has a volume of 8 cm and a mass of 24 grams 3 g/cm
A battery has a volume of 25 cm and a mass of 250 grams 10 g/cm
