Describe the visible spectrum The rainbow of colors produced when white light passes through a prism, which refracts the ight and separates it into colors.
What is a light wave? A characteristic of light energy that has a particular length and frequency and corresponds to a particular color.
Explain what a prism is and what it does. It is a solid, transparent object that refracts light and separates white light into colors.
What is a concave lens? This lens curves inward and light bends outward from the center of the lens.
What is a convex lens? This lens bulges outward. Light rays bend inward toward its center.
Refraction is... The bending of light as it passes from one transparent material into another.
Describe reflection The bouncing of light waves off of a surface. Any shiny surface such as a mirror show a reflection.
What does absorption mean? The act of taking in. A sponge or a papertowel absorbs liquids. After a rainfall, some of the water is absorbed into the ground.
When is something transparent? When all the light goes through and object so that objects on the other side can be seen clearly.
Translucent is... Letting only some light through, so that objects on the other side appear blurry.
What does opaque mean? Completely blocking light from passing through.
