How did the environment affect the Anasazi's lives? They stored a lot of food and water because they had droughts in the desert they lived in.
What is the greatest mound-building civilization? The Mississippians for their huge mounds.
Why are the Olmecs known as the 'mother civilization'? It is the oldest civilization and other tribes passed down many of its ideas.
What caused early civilizations to develop? They settled down and started farming.
Why did the Mound Builders build earthworks? To bury their important people that died.
What is maiz? The spanish word for corn.
What is a kiva? An underground room used for religious services.
What were pueblos? Homes carved into the side of cliffs made out of adobe, bricks made from sandy clay and straw.
